MEET THE TEAM

MAYA HARRIS-CAMERON

Director

Maya Harris-Cameron is a veteran government relations executive with more than 20 years of experience shaping federal legislative strategy, driving congressional appropriations, and leading
complex interagency coordination.

Recognized for her bipartisan engagement and results-driven advocacy, Maya most recently served as Supervisory Legislative Affairs Specialist at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs. In this role, she led outreach to members of Congress and staff from the House Energy and Commerce Committee, the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, and the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee. Her strategic engagement helped secure DOE input into the Accelerating Deployment of Versatile, Advanced Nuclear for Clean Energy (ADVANCE) Act of 2024, advancing U.S. civil nuclear energy development.

Earlier in her career, Maya held senior positions in DOE’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). She served as a principal liaison to the House and Senate Energy and Water Development Appropriations Subcommittees for the Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation, prepared testimony for cabinet-level hearings, negotiated provisions of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), and represented the agency in interagency working groups led by the National Security Council (NSC). Her work helped establish international funding mechanisms that saved U.S. taxpayers tens of millions of dollars.

Before joining DOE, Maya served as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State (DOS), leading diplomatic initiatives across Africa, the Middle East, and Canada. She coordinated high-level engagements such as the U.S.–Angola Strategic Partnership Dialogue and served as liaison to the South African delegation for the G20 Summit.

Maya’s tenure with DOE, NNSA, and DOS have enabled her to build a broad and trusted network across the federal government. A skilled legislative strategist and advisor, she is known for translating complex policies into actionable, measurable results.

Maya holds a Master of Arts degree in Producing for Film and Television from American University and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Howard University.
